How To Hire The Right Person The First Time
Are they well suited to learn the skills of the job?
You can look for base skills but the capacity to learn is almost more important
It's okay for someone to need to grow into the job; in order to do that they need to have a willingness to learn (no ego), be a self-starter, and a quick-learn
Don't ask generic questions during the interview to find this stuff out; be specific
Are they a culture fit?
Your business' core values come into play here
Is this person in alignment with them?
Does this person "play well with others?"
Are they likely to stick around?
This isn't always important (like for seasonal hires) but the hiring and onboarding process takes a lot of resources, so you want to make sure this is worth your investment
What personal/professional goals does this person have that might give you insight?
