How To Hire The Right Person The First Time
Are they well suited to learn the skills of the job?
- You can look for base skills but the capacity to learn is almost more important 
- It's okay for someone to need to grow into the job; in order to do that they need to have a willingness to learn (no ego), be a self-starter, and a quick-learn 
- Don't ask generic questions during the interview to find this stuff out; be specific 
Are they a culture fit?
- Your business' core values come into play here 
- Is this person in alignment with them? 
- Does this person "play well with others?" 
Are they likely to stick around?
- This isn't always important (like for seasonal hires) but the hiring and onboarding process takes a lot of resources, so you want to make sure this is worth your investment 
- What personal/professional goals does this person have that might give you insight?
