How To Get Through A Dry Spell In Your Business

Dry spells can be some of the most productive times for your business if handled correctly. Instead of letting a dry spell get you down, let’s talk about how you can use this time to stay excited about your business and keep pushing forward during those slower periods.

1. Keep a Routine

Routines help you stay motivated and ensure you get at least some work done each day. Just because you don’t necessarily have any client work on the table doesn’t mean there aren’t other things you can be doing. So keep with your routine and use this time to deep dive into your business.

2. Network, network, network

During a slow period is a great time to get out there and make some new connections with likeminded creative entrepreneurs. Plus, you never know when a business opportunity might pop up when you’re out and about meeting new people!

3. Learn a New Skill

By working on a new skill and stimulating new parts of your brain you are bound to be inspired and find new ways to creatively influence your business. Build your study time into your daily routine and you’ll kill two birds with one stone. Remember, the more skills you have, the more valuable you are to your client.

4. Evaluate Your Business Plan

As an entrepreneur you are constantly changing and growing, and so is your business. If it has been awhile since you’ve peeked at your business plan, this dry spell might be the perfect time to reevaluate. Who knows what you’ll find? Maybe since starting your business you have been undercharging and it’s time to increase your prices. Maybe you’ve been handling some tasks that could be easily outsourced and allow you to free up your time for more important tasks. It’s always good to step back and take a look at your business plan with a pair of fresh eyes every once in awhile to make sure you are still on track for where you want to be. And if you don’t currently have a business plan in place…now you know where to start and what you should be working on during this time.

5. Start Working on That Dream Project

If there’s a product or service that has been in the back of your mind for some time now, a dry spell could be just the motivation you need to bring it to the forefront. Plus, nothing with get you more excited about your business than having a new project that you absolutely love and can’t wait to share.
