How To Launch A Business Without Losing Your Goddamn Mind: Pt 5: Marketing Strategies

In the 5th part of the series, Tayler takes you through all the marketing steps you need to take prior to launch. In this episode, we’ll cover creating your ideal client, mapping out your marketing efforts, and tracking your progress with KPIs.

Recap:

Marketing Strategy

  • When should you start your strategy? ASAFP.

  • 90-120 days, 4 months out from launch you need to have your marketing strategy mapped out

Break your strategy into two parts:

Create a customer map:

  • What does your ideal customer look like?

  • What are their interests?

  • Where do they shop?

  • What problem do they have that you can solve for them?

Create a list of your marketing tools

  • Social media

  • Email marketing

  • Hosting webinars

  • Product placement

  • Trade shows

  • Events

  • PR

  • Paid advertising placements

Tip: Play to your strengths. You don’t have to be on every single platform. Pick the ones that you know you will dedicate time and resources to with the highest ROI.

What to map out in your marketing calendar:

  1. How you’re going to share

  2. What you’re going to share

  3. When you’re going to share

Measuring your endeavors:

If you’re not setting metrics to track your progress, you’ll never know what’s working and what’s not.

KPIs: Key performance indicator.

A fancy way to say “track your shit”.

Ideas for KPIS:

  • Social following

  • Engagement rates

  • UVM

  • Time spent on a website

  • Bounce rate

  • Site conversions

  • Advertising CTR
