AB-5 Law

  • AB 5 law went into effect Jan 1

  • requires the ABC test - (A) is free from the control the hiring entity typically exercises over its employees; (B) performs work that is not integral to the hiring entity’s operations; and (C) routinely does work (not just is permitted to do work) in a recognized business, trade, or occupation of the same nature as the work performed.
