How To Have Confidence In 2021 When The World Is A Clusterf*ck
Happy New Year! Or is it? We all know the world is upside down right now and many businesses are struggling through this pandemic. But confidence as a creative entrepreneur matters more than ever. In today’s first episode of the new year, we’re breaking down all the ways you can grow your confidence as a business owner, creative, and human…even when the world is a shit show.
Reflect on your wins and challenges for last year:
You want to remind yourself of what you did really well to fill your tank so to speak
What product or service crushed it?
Where do you have momentum to play off?
You also want to think about what challenged you and the lessons you learned; those lessons are setting you up to be better suited for new challenges—you are now smarter than you were last year.
Things you can do to become more confident:
Set goals
Create a plan
Get what you need (make investments in education, people, things, etc.)
Create accountability (a mentor or professional friend)
Give yourself the quiet space to think things through or do them better
Don't beat yourself up
Get comfortable with creative solutions
Don’t be afraid to not know the answers
This attitude will do nothing but hold you back. Recognize that you still have a lot to learn and seek out information with humility and an open mind.
Resist conformity
When you become someone you're not in order to fit in, you lose yourself and you lose confidence. Successful people are able to resist conformity. We all know that familiar feeling: a failure means you can't be part of a team or organization, and as a result the desire to be someone you're not is fierce. The more you know who you are and take a stand for that, the more confident you’ll be.
Self-confidence is the fundamental basis from which leadership grows.
Trying to teach leadership without first building confidence is like building a house on a foundation of sand.
