Metrics or It Didn’t Happen

If you own a business and you aren't using Google Analytics, what are you even doing with your life? Today we're sharing why you absolutely need to utilize Google Analytics for tracking and growing your business and what Google Analytics can do for you.

What is Google Analytics?

  • GA is one of Google's tools or features that helps you see the numbers behind your website

  • Things like how many people are visiting it, how much time they spend on it, how many pages they look at, how long they look at pages, where they are etc.

  • This is important to know because it's hard to get found on the internet and GA gives you real data to make decisions about how you are going to spend your time, money, and effort

Why is this shit important?

  • Just like most things, it's not just about having the info it's about what you do with it

  • You need to do more than just bring people to your website, you need them to give you their money! But, if no one is actually converting with a sign-up or sale, your website has a leak

  • Your website is your online storefront so if it's not doing what you need, all the time you spend on social or money you put into ads is a complete waste

What should you be looking at on GA?

  • For the newbies:

    • Look at the Audience>Overview tab for a super high-level look at what's happening on your website

    • Acquisition>Overview to see where your website traffic is coming from

    • Behavior>Overview to see what pages of your website are being looked at

  • When you're ready to step it up:

    • You should prob hire someone to set up goals and conversions

    • I like to look at what sites are sending me traffic (this helps with marketing and PR) Acquisition>All Traffic>Referrals

    • Behavior>Site Speed (this might be the reason you have a high bounce rate if you do).

    • Behavior>Behavior Flow to see how people are moving through your website.
