This Meeting Could Have Been An Email

If it must be a meeting make sure it checks all the boxes:

Only schedule them if they are needed

  • No "this could have been an email" meetings

Someone needs to lead the meeting

  • Set (at least) a high-level agenda

  • Make sure people don't take up too much oxygen

  • Takes notes so people know what the follow up is

  • Now when to end the meeting if it's no longer productive

Be smart with your words

  • Save the "to piggyback off" comments

  • If you need to sidebar with someone, do that privately

Do your homework and be prepared

Do what you're tasked with after the meeting
